we will watch the movies "King Lear" at our class directed by Peter Brook and starring Paul Scofield.
King Lear is one of the major tragedies of Shakespeare. We all know that shakespeare wrote Tragedies, Comedies, and Histories/chronicles.

How did king lear dvide his kingdom between is his three daughters ?
ReplyDeleteWhen king lear feels that he becomes old and can`t bear resbonsability of region he deciede to devide his kingdom between his three daughters .
He will get everyone her properity inreturn for knowledge how mush she loves him .
The daughter who loves him more will get to roperty more .
Will get to property more .
As he like sweet words and flattery he devides his kingdom according to this to flatter his conceit and pride .
I see that he is uhaware to put this condition as moral or rial things such love aren`t measured by wards or appearances but there are some bodies like this and enjoy with this .
The king is very happy about gornile and regan because bo th of them prised him and give him sweet words adds to deceiving him so he gives them their share complet`y .
As corella is reticent and loyal she dosen`t decived hom and disobeyed him such her sisters .
The king angers with cordella although she was apple of his eyes and the most be loved ohe she alsolves him much more than the others , he also decided to deprives her from her property and gives it to her sister regan and gornial the king is un ware and hurried to do this statement which leads him to be rash and lose the person who is apple of his eyes and she also lose the best one to her .

This sonnet to shakes peare who is a famous poet and play wright .
It is one of the enost famous sonnets for him .
he speaks about his beloved and compares her beauty to a summer`s day .
he chooses this season because it is the most beautiful in England .
on the contrary in Egypt where summer in Egypt is du sty , dray and hoting .
the season of summer in England like the season of spring in Egypt where weather is fine and temperate , xsunrises .
flower florish birds sing and every thing in spring in Egypt or in summer in England is beautiful even the people are happy and optimistic so he wants compare her to every thing is beautiful the poet se as that her skine is sensitive so he for warns her from rays of sun which affect on her sensitive skine .
shakes peare gives her an advice to say that time flies and nothing last for ever because every thing chages either by destiny or by luck .
the poet begans to prides with him self and says to her although every thing will fade , she and her beauty will n`t fade and death can`t revenge from her this because she will eternize in his eternal poem that willl last forever as long as life lastes and the people can read and sea .

ReplyDeleteThe remerkes of the fool have to important function . the first is to provide acomic relief , is to change the mood of sad ness in the play because he is the king lear`s clown and he has the freedom in speaking .
The second is to make king lear sorry for himself .
After lear divide his kingdom fool appears . king lear wants to see him but the knight didn`t see him two days ago . although he is clown but he is sad because of coner lia`s departure for france . it seems that fool loves cordelia . fool think that she departes because her father treat her unfairly.
When fool appears he offers his cap to kent . because he also fool since he fellow the side of lear who becomes poor man . fool advise kent not to fellow lear again because he will become fool .
Fool explain that since king lear gives his kingdom to his two daughters he loses their respectful and their – while the third daughter becomes the queen of france .
Fool said to lear afters his cap to him that he needs two caps one to him and one to his daughter
How king lear divide his kingdom
King lear is the king of Britain . he has three daughters , oldest one is Coneril , the second one is Regan , they youngest one is Cordelia who is the source of her father's happiness and she is the apple of her father eyes .
King lear becomes very old man . so he wants to retire and live his last days with out any responsibly .
King Lear has tragic flaw he decides to divide his kingdom among his three daughters . He adores flattery , so he loves by his ears . he also makes fault when he ask his three daughters to tell him how match they loves him – he wants to know who loves him the most . Again he makes fault when he will offer the most generous gift on the basis the degree of love each each of them feels for him . king lear lets his oldest daughter Coneril to speak first .
She said that she loves her father more than she can express in words . she love him more than her lights of her eyes , and more than freedom.
She consider her father as the life with it's grace , health , beauty and honor . Her love is so great that words are weak to express it . Lear said to coneril that he would give her the owner ship of the whole of this territory which contains shady forest and is enriched with un wooded plains with rivers full off abundant water and with extensive meadows – He then let her second daughter Regan who is the wife of Duck of corn wall to speak . She said that she is made from the same stuff as sister coneril , she find that she can feel happy in your love . For this words Lear would give her .
This part of his beautiful kingdom . this is large enough and will belong to you and after you , to your children forever .
Now , it is the time to speak his youngest daughter Gordelia – than he let her to speak nothing , you will get nothing – but he gives her an other chance to say something .
Gordelia said that to her father , you produce , you brought cup , and you me your love . I return to you those duties accordingly , I will obey you , love you and honor you the most .
She also say that if I loves you as my sister , the husband who will recovery as his wife will also receive half of my love , half of my care , and half of my duty . so that I can love you with the other half .
Lear said that you are so young and so devoid of love . but Gordelia said that she is so young , but she is perfectly truth full in what she had spoken .
King lear swears by all things that no longer regard her as his daughter . he no longer recognize our blood relation ship . from now , she will be stranger to him and far from his heart .
After that , King lear with holds Gordelia from his heritage . he didn't give her anything from his Kingdom .
In my point of view , Gordelia is disrespect fully Because she hasn`t tell his father how much she loves him and she loves him in silence .
Also , Her excuse is very bad Because the father's love is completely different from the husband's love .

(King Lear) has three daughters (Goneril) is the oldest doughter the second doughter is (Regoin) and the youngest doughter is (Cordelia) , He want to divide his kingdom into three parts among them because he become old and want to remove the responsibility from himself , but he want to know How much they love him?.
He would like to know which of his daughters take the kingdom by the degree of love ?.
In it king lear has flaws because he loves by his ears and adores flattery .
He ask (Goneril) and she make track to earn his trust and said to him that She love him more that the words which hew said . She love him more that the light of her eyes more that her health or her beauty , more than any thing , she love him as any child felt for his parents .
But (Cordelia) spoke to her self and said that she loves his father in silence because she can't equal (Goneril) in giving expression to her felling .
After (Lear) heared his doughter (Goneril) he trusted on her and decided to give her grants her rewared it is . The owner ship of the who le of this territory, it is contains shady forests and is enriched with unwooded plans with rivers full of water and with meadows and will pass to childreens who will be born with his hasband .
Regain want to take the authority and he said to her father she love him as her sister ( gonerila ) and she fell happy in her love to him .
King lear thought that she is sincere and decided to give her the third share of the kingdom this share is large enough and will be long for her and to her children for ever.
Gordelia is a faith fullness ( sincere ) she said to him she has no thing to him but lear said to her that if she speak nothing she will get nothing . she said to her father :
You brought me , produce me and give me the love I return to you this duties and I honor you the most but the love , but I can't give you all my love be cause my husband will take half my care and half my love .
He said to her you are young but her answered to him that she is young but she is perfectly truth full in what in what she has spouted .
When the duck of byrgudy know that ( cordelia )is her tied he refused to marry her but affiance accepted to marry her
Who is Fool ?
Fool is a professional tester , he is the best man for The king be cause he makes him very happy , also he amuse the courtiers and has a good freedom to speak on any subject or in any events .
He provide The Laughs and his remarks have two important function .
The first : . is to provide acomic relief is to change the mood of sadness .
The second :- is to make king lear sorry for him self .
Fool likes (Cordelia) very much , The one who observe that is the knight and ht said to the King .
The Knight known that when cordelia departure for France , he was very sad .
When Fool want to give kent and lear his opinion in whet they do he give us it dg his remarks .
He offer his cap to (Kent) (and) (lear)
He offer his cap to Lear because he divided his kingdom between his daughters .
He lost their love and obedience and prevent (Cordelia) from her rights .
Also, he said that should Lear takes the second cap from his daughters because he given them every thing without take any thing to himself .
* he offer his cap to Kent because he had taken the said of Lear .

The Shakespearean Sonnet
ReplyDelete- This is Shakespearean sonnet consist of three quatrain followed by two couplet .
- In the first stanza , Shakes pear fond of the beauty of his beloued . he is making a comparison between his beloved and summer's day . He choose summer season in England because it is the most beautiful season in the whole year . but his beloved is more beautiful than the summer day . He also says that the beautiful things , like summer are short living .
- Shakes pear also describe the sun as the eye of heavy and it's shines are very hot and dim . Moreover , he tell his beloved that Because you have a wonderful fair skin it is effected sometime by the bright rays of the sun . In addition to . He fare warns his beloved by mention how life is every short just like trip . every is going to change either by dusting or by the messy force of nature .
- In the last four lines , he says that to his beloved , you will never grow old in age ,you will never lose your beauty . He also says that the death can't revenge because your beauty is immortal . He is aware of his magnitude . He immortalize his beloved woman in his poetry .
- In the final of sonnet , he explains how the beauty of his beloved will last forever as men can breath or eyes can see .

ReplyDeleteIn Thais sonnet Shakespeare immortalize his beloved by compares her beauty to the summer's day chooses the summer because in England it is the most beautiful sea son in the whole year , however Egypt it is hot , dusty as bone .
In England the summer not very hot and not very cold it is in between as she has lovely emotions .
He said to her that the summer doesn't last forever but it take some time because every thing has fantasy time , but when I sea you I camper you as The sun when rises (the sun rises)
In this sonnet he calls the sun when rises " The Eye Of Heaver "
In the ascend stanza he said to her be cause she has awarder full fair skin it is affected some time by the bright rays of the sun , in addition he war ns her by man toning how life is very short just like trip every thing is going to be changed either by des ting or by the force of nature Shakespeare thinks that his be loved will never grow old in age , Also she doesn't lose her beauty and the death can't revenge form her be cause her beauty is Immortal .
Finally he said to her If The man breath and the eyes canes this give you the life .
In addition , he said to her that his words win last for ever and long live because he is conscious of his magnitude and he wishes grant life to her , Also this sonnet will become memories

thank you for teaching us.in the second sonnet which we study .we can see that the speaker describes his mistress more than one .he mentions her redness lips . he sees roses damasked but her cheeks are roses.

ReplyDeleteThe fool is the only person who cam comments freely king Lear and any one of courtiers in any time about any thing or event . The function of the fool is very important in play because he provides comic relief which does trans formation in the play from the mood of tragedy to funny and laugh .
Controversly some times the fool's remarks lead to lighten the gloom when he reminds the king about his failure . The fool loves and regards Cornelia . When she goes to France he is very sad so when the king asks a knight for him the knight tells him that the fool is sad because of cordelia`s departure .
The fool says to the Kent that he and the king deserve caps . This cap refears to irony and folly . He saw that the king heeds to a cap as he isn't wise or aware of what he does when he gives to his two daughters every thing without they deserve it and oppresses the youngest . By giving his two daughters every thing he loses their obedience and their regarding for him as well as hot keeping any thing for him .
Even when Cordelia is lucky when marries France who loves her and leaves the Duke of Burgundy who doesn't love her then her husband makes her the queen of France all this happens without he intends and against his desire so he needs to not only one cap but two caps .
The first form the fool and the second from his two daughters who deceives him to get to all property . Also the Kent needs to a cap as he looks like the king and don't stop the king when he faults .

The function of the "Fool"
ReplyDeleteShakespear introduces the character of the Fool at the first time in "King Lear".
The fool is a clown whose role is to say witty jokes that amuse the king .He has a great freedom that enables him commenting on everything without any restrictions
Shakespear uses the fool as a (comic relief) to decrease the sadness of the tragedies ,also the sacrastic comments of the fool increase the pains of Lear.
The Fool seems to love Cordelia so much & also very close to her .so,her departure for france ,after being disinherited,has a great effect on him .being sad shows the human side of the Fool who always seems to be nonchalant to the surrounding.
The Fool offeres his Fool s cap to the Kent as the Kent took the side of the king who devided his whole kingdom between his 2 daughters .so, he lost thier loyalty.The Fool think that Lear needs two such caps from his daughters as he gave them everything and did not keep anythhng for himself
